Something is free after all
A new freeware scenery for Mainbullau Airfield has been released for Microsoft Flight Simulator—always a nice moment, because let’s be honest, who isn’t happy when something free pops up? It adds a small general aviation airfield in northern Bavaria, aimed at pilots who prefer short, local flights over big airline routes.
Mainbullau (EDFU) sits in Lower Franconia, not far from Miltenberg, between Aschaffenburg and Würzburg. It’s right on the edge of the Spessart hills, which makes it a good fit for VFR flying with a bit of terrain and scenery to work with.
Why it’s interesting
This is the kind of place you’d use with a Cessna, DA40, or similar aircraft—nothing huge, just relaxed regional flying. Small airfields like this often add more atmosphere than the default sim versions, even if they’re not packed with features.
Bottom line
It’s another free regional airfield in Germany, and those tend to make day-to-day flying in MSFS feel a lot less generic. Worth a look if you enjoy VFR hops around Bavaria.
