The new version gives Xbox simmers a way to connect their flights to Volanta, but it works differently from the PC release. Rather than displaying the full Volanta map inside the simulator, the Xbox version uses a toolbar panel to maintain the connection while flight data is viewed on another device.
How Volanta Works on Xbox
Zhe Xbox edition operates through a dedicated toolbar panel in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Once connected, the user can follow the flight live using the Volanta web platform on a second device.
That second device can be a smartphone, tablet or desktop browser. In other words, the in-sim panel acts as the link between the Xbox session and Volanta’s online tracking system, while the actual map and tracking view are handled externally.
There is an important limitation: The toolbar window must remain open to keep the connection active, and users need to repeat the setup each time they want to track a flight. That makes the feature functional, but not yet as seamless as the established PC workflow.
Not a Full In-Sim Map
Orbx says the Volanta map or app itself is not shown inside the simulator’s toolbar window. Instead, the panel is only used to establish and maintain the link.
That distinction matters for users expecting a full in-cockpit moving map experience. Orbx also says that it plans to continue improving the Xbox version. However, there is no timetable or further technical detail.
Core Volanta Features Included
The Xbox release includes a number of Volanta’s established platform features. These include:
- Automatic flight logging
- Aircraft statistics
- Flight history
- Live mapping
- Community features
Those tools are part of what has made Volanta popular on PC. For console users, the addition means flights completed in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on Xbox can now be recorded and viewed.
The platform also links simmers across multiple simulators, including Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, X-Plane, DCS World and even Prepar3D.
Compatibility Beyond Native Xbox Consoles
Orbx says the Xbox version is also compatible with Xbox Cloud Gaming and GeForce NOW. That broadens access beyond users running the sim directly on an Xbox console.
However, PlayStation support is not available at this time and there are no plans mentioned for a PlayStation.

The listed price for Volanta on Xbox is US$4.99, which is the minimum in-sim Marketplace fee.
